Bloomsburg Falls to Clarion in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG - Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) scored a game-high 25 points and Laura Lyons (Hatfield/Pennridge) added another 15 but it wasn't enough as the Bloomsburg women's basketball team dropped an 82-72 contest to Clarion University on Saturday night.

The Huskies jumped out to an early 9-8 lead on three pointers by Miskinis, Kait Urban (Johnstown/Westmont) and Kelly Burkhurt (Sayre/Athens) but Clarion converted offensive rebounds into 13 points to give the Golden Eagles a 28-21 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the half. Lyons brought the Huskies within two points, netting eight over the next four and a half minutes to make the score 35-33 in favor of Clarion at halftime.

The game stayed tight to open up the second half and the Huskies took the lead 45-44 on a three-pointer by Urban with 13 minutes to play, but Clarion pulled away and sealed the win, making the final score 82-72.

Jessica Albanese scored 23 and Melton Melba scored 20 to lead Clarion's offensive charge which shot 58% from the field. Katrina Greer and April Gratton added 16 apiece for the Golden Eagles who move to 4-3 on the season.

Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) scored a double-double for the Huskies with 10 points and 11 rebounds while Burkhart added 12 points to round out the scoring for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies (2-2) will be back in action on December 6 when they host Southern Connecticut State for a 5:00 p.m. start.
